I was off work today. That will not be a rare occurrence much longer. I am changing jobs. I am leaving the hospital and going to work retail pharmacy three days a week. No weekends, no holidays. I am so excited.
Today was a perfect example of why I am so excited to be off on weekends from now on. Ali woke up a little before seven, came to my room and asked me if it was a "stay home" day. I told her it was and she went back to bed with the computer. She chilled out in her room for a while just watching a movie. She was relishing the rare day that she didn't have to get up and be anywhere. Sarah Kate got up a little after seven and had pancakes for breakfast. After that, the day passed in relaxed, relatively quiet, calm. As relaxed and calm as life with a three year old can ever be. There was some dress-up, a little bit of tv watching, and a period of indoors gymnastics using our pottery barn soft chair and a giant bean bag.
We didn't do anything until late this afternoon when we got groceries and picked up pizza. Even grocery shopping was easy today (thanks to each girl being caught up in her ipod). Now the girls are on the computer playing barbie.com. And, for now, not bickering.
I love being a mommy!
